As an asymmetric multiplayer horror game from developer FNTASTIC and publisher MYTONA, Propnight wears its cheeky inspirations up its sleeve. In fact, Propnight as a title is an amalgamation of the two games that have inspired it: Prop Hunt and Dead by Daylight.

Prop Hunts' cat and mouse mechanics and hideout allow players to hide as imitable props while other players hunt them all over the environment, and props win if they can last long enough to run out of time. Dead by Daylight, on the other hand, is a 4v1 horror game in which surviving players repair generators and evade one of many killer characters on foot chases to escape.

Today, Propnight has portrayed what this game combination will look like in an official reveal trailer. The official reveal trailer for Propnights marries Prop Hunt with Dead by Daylight to create "physics-based mayhem" with familiar concepts from both games. Propnights' macrocosmic game loop is inspired by Dead by Daylight, with Prop Hunt's concept mechanics peppered throughout. Rather, Propnight seems much less stealth-oriented than its seminal predecessors and much more chaotic throughout the game from moment to moment; for example, survivors turn into miscellaneous objects and jump and jump animatedly.

But to escape, the survivors must repair Propmachines by turning into stylized teenage characters. Survivors seemingly slip in and out of prop form at will to do so, and Propnights animations during repairs are unapologetic for their inspiration from Dead by Daylight, where Survivors crouch down and demonstrate their deft handwork on the machine that are in front of you. Similarly, Propnight seems to have a long list of killer characters. The official trailer for Propnights features an evil nun with sharp gloves, black and gray stained makeup, and piercing yellow eyes.

As an assassin, players hunt down these prop survivors in a first-person perspective similar to Dead by Daylight. However, it appears that the survivors also play first-person when not in prop form, as seen with a player owning a soda can and a player temporarily stunning the killer character with a camera flash. This stun also causes the assassin to drop coins of some sort, although the purpose of said mechanic is not determined in the trailer. Fortunately, more can be learned about Propnight from hands-on experiences starting today.
